Be alert: Lambert Academic Publishing spam

This is the third time that I have received the invitation to publish my research paper with LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing (see the end for the email message). I first got an email from them on 18/03/2016(see the end for the email message).

It looks very appealing, especially for recent graduates or junior lectures who desperately need publications for their career.

There have been many other people who have received the same invitation and many of them have fallen into the trap. There have been full analyses of this scam. You can easily find this out by googling “Lambert Academic Publishing spam”.

I won’t write much about what is already on the blogosphere, here are several blogposts worth a glimpse. Click the links.

Dear Benard Mumo Makaa,

Are you the author of work entitled « Wireless Power Transmission using Solid State  Tesla Coils »?It was apparently written at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in 2015.

I’m Carolyn Evans from the editorial team of Lambert Academic Publishing.

I believe this particular topic could be of interest to a wider audience and we would be glad to consider publishing it. We would be especially interested in publishing a complete academic work of yours (a thesis, a dissertation or a monograph) as a printed book. Our services are free of charge for authors.

Benard Mumo Makaa, would you agree to receive more information in an electronic brochure?

Thank you in advance.
Sincere regards,
Carolyn Evans

I fell for this and actually requested for the catalogue which they sent as links to download.

See below response:

Dear Benard Makaa,

Thank you for your reply and your interest in our offer.

Upon getting acquainted with your scientific activities, we assumed that you are an expert in this field and might be interested in publishing your academic papers. We are interested in monographs, scripts, diploma theses, master theses, dissertations and lecture notes that are at least 42 pages long.

Please click on the following link to download our e-brochure with more detailed information about our services:

You can browse or catalog of publications on our website www.lap-publishing.com (in the ‘Catalogue´ section).

If you are interested in publishing with us, please send us your manuscript by e-mail. Although this goes without saying in publishing, I would like to explicitly guarantee that your work will be used only for in-house review. Should we not reach an agreement, all your data will be deleted from our records.

Besides, we offer our authors a one-time opportunity – not only can you purchase your book with a significant discount till 70 % on our partner online bookstore morebooks.de, but by buying a certain amount of copies of your own book to observe its publication, you can influence your book’s price on the market. However, the offer is completely optional.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Carolyn Evans

I did not sent any manuscript and this is what I received on

—–the invitation I received on 11/03/2017—–

Dear Benard Mumo Makaa,

to follow up where we left off – did you manage to have a look at the brochure I sent you? If you have some questions (and I’m sure you do because publishing your work is a major achievement), let me know when I could call you to clarify those.

If everything is clear, however (I hope the brochure was informative enough, our marketing department worked hard on that), to go forward with the publishing process: please send me your manuscript.

After an internal review, I would send you our publishing contract.

From there onward the process is straight-forward, and we can have your book out in the market within a few weeks

Sincere regards,

Kristine Vasaraudze,Editor
